Whats It Worth?

Guy is asking $4500, wants to trade for something i have, "plus cash". Anyone know what one of these guys is really worth? Claims 30 hp 4 cylinder, and it is exceptionally clean.

Never seen one before. I'd start by checking if there are any dealers in your area/state.

He is high for a 2wd model. They are a pretty good machine but parts can be an issue on them. Not many dealers around. So the internet is your friend for parts. So it would really depend on what you have hard money in what he wants. Also if you have any used for it. The resale market is for 4wd with loaders. So do not plan on reselling it for much over $2500-3000 tops.

I have an IH 244. Just a red Mitsubishi. Mine is a 3 cyl maybe 22 or 24 horsepower. Has a loader and 4wd and always starts no matter how cold. Been a Great compact tractor. I mis-diagnosed my way into a new starter this spring. Found a new one for 75 pretty quick. Now I have 2 working starters. I think the price for that tractor is probably closer to 3000, maybe 3500 with the blade, but I can tell you mine is way too light to do much without 4wd, even when I take the loader off. Excellent on fuel though. 4 gallons of diesel goes pretty far.

Agree with the o5her replys but that little baby would make a beautiful show tractor just as is. Maybe a little high but I would take it to all kinds of shows.

It could be.. a grey market tractor.. one that was never officially imported... and there will be no parts for it...

or.. it could be a licensed import... still will be no parts for it... or very few and hard to find and very expensive. No dealers in my area...

shifting into reverse why your still rolling forwards will break the transmission casting internally and the idler shaft will float...

And these are very hard to get rid of in my experience. However others will disagree.

That is all it will be good for. Never find anything for repairs to use it. Probably something wrong he cannot get parts for the reason he is wanting to get rid of it.

I would research others experience with that specific model and parts availability thoroughly before agreeing to any deal like that. I'd be real gun shy to honest.

If its like Yanmar Tractors the 'Offically' imported owners are having to go to the Grey Market parts suppliers to get parts, even some JD/Yanmar owners are having to get parts from Grey Market
parts dealers to get parts NLA from JD.

They aren't worth as much on the open market but for general use give me a 2WD over the 4WD compact for gardening and things like that as they are far more handy with their much shorter
turning radius.I have big tractors so I don't need the 4WD anyway and the 4WD part is where most of the problems on those tractors happen.

I wouldn't mind having one that size in 2WD so I could retire my 8N and work on it. Probably wouldn't pay that much for it however, more like $3-3.5K seems about right.
