any body ever attended gathering of the green?

planned a vacation in march for the gathering of the green 2018 in davenport. always lived in the south, never ben north of tn border so dont know what to expect. they say there are REAL farms up there, so will be interesting. might need a translator to take with me to translate my hillbilly diolect! booked a tour to waterloo to tractor plant and museum, also to butterworth/wiman houses in moline. going to jd pavillion and deere admistrative building. any body ben to previous gatherings? if so,what are good places to see or things to do?

If you're into green, you will enjoy it. I think it's been 10 years since I was there, so can't find much in memory to tell you what to see.
The vendor area will be "loaded".
The technical sessions will be good 2 out of 3 times.
People are so friendly you will think you are in the South.
Try to get a bunch together for evening meals - don't go off by yourself.

The Gathering is the most exciting event I have ever attended. I have taught electrical seminars there for many years. I advise you to attend as many technical sessions as possible. You can go on tours anytime but where else can you ask technical questions from a broad range of experts. We had close to 3,000 visitors two years ago. People are very friendly and everything is first class.

I have gone twice now, four years apart. It was great both times. Frankly I am thinking about going again in 2018. Yes, I skip the tours and do the seminars. I have done some of the tours on other occasions so I kinda know what they are about.

The vendor area is fabulous. Oh, they sure put a lot of effort into displays depicting the theme for the year.

I went to the Gathering in March of 2016 and took a bunch of pictures. In fact, 380 pictures, and they are all on the internet waiting for you to look at them if you want.

They are on a picture hosting web site at:

Guys, I should have mentioned, if you want to look at my pictures, when you get to the pages that have the icons of the pictures, just above them you will see the words, "Roll View".

If you click on that, you should be able to scroll down through the pictures just about as fast as you can roll the wheel on your mouse.

Otherwise, if you click on an image, it will load the next picture, no reason to ever go back to the icons page while viewing.

I've never been to one, but it would be fun to go sometime.

My question is--why did they have to steal the name from Allis Chalmers? The AC people have had the "Gathering of the Orange" for Years before this event began. (Not sure, but they might even have it trademarked.)
I would have thought the Deere people could be more original than that!

Deere has copied others for years...why stop now??
