A Minn. deputy was responding to a gun in restaurant call and hit a deer at 114 mph. He lived! Deer did not---Tee

If the deputy stopped the car in a straight line with a windshield full of air bag, he did pretty good! Hope he isn't hurt too badly.

Where did you find out the nature of the call and the impact speed? This is in my county and the local paper doesn't have these details.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the officer took this photo. I see no other emergency lights in the background, and no obvious other headlights. Looks like this might be the image he took '[i:27f320cd9d]for the record[/i:27f320cd9d]'. Maybe it got posted on Facebook?

i am thankful the officer is alright however they dont need to drive that fast. an elderly couple was killed a few years ago near cannon falls when a officer hit them at over 100 miles an hour responding to a call. just my two cents

looks like his deer strainer and deer deflector worked good , something large hit a bull elk here on the hiway last week, elk pieces blocked both westbound lanes for 200 hundred yards, no vehicle present, he mush have had a heck of a elk strainer on the front,

Grill guard did what they all do when hitting a deer - just something else to take off when the body work starts. Although at 114 I doubt many grill guards would have stood up to the impact.

WOW!! Thanks for the video Russ. That was truly amazing!

They commended him for not swerving -- I didn't even have time to flinch!

Too many times the Law enforcement will drive crazy risking the lives of all around them, for no true reason other than to feel the speed and play the siren. A couple years ago a young Deputy was drive way to fast on a wet curvy road with studded tires on the cruiser,,wiped out and got killed,,,,they made a hero out of him and named the road after him,,he was responding to a call of a suicide, and 5 cars were already there...

Yes, when I was on the volunteer Fire Dept, the chief was adamant about us getting to the scene as SAFELY as we could. The words quickly and fast were not used. "You are no *#!+@ good to us in a ditch somewhere"

Yup. BTDT.

On the diner menu where police get quick meals-GRILLED VENISON! Teasing Alert! RN.

Years ago, when I got on the volunteer fire dept., we were told that the blue lights did not give use the right to exceed the speed limit. They were to to give the other drivers a way to recognize a fire truck and to get out of the way. We were also told that was also true for all other emergency equipment. Having said that, I get out of the way, because they might be responding to someone I know, or to my place. Here in southern IL we seem to have had a lot of emergency vehicle accidents involving excess speed.
