Changing oil on MF 65 - Perkins diesel. Do you loosen the bolt on top of filtre housing? Filter looks similar to Farmall filters where filter goes into a cup, rather than like a spin on like my cars...

I would think the bolt should be on bottom of the oil filter canister, my old MF 135 had bolt on bottom that you screwed out then remove canister and paper filter, can?t imagine bolt on top side but never owned a MF 65

Don't have tractor here now, son has it 70 miles away. When I did have it for a few weeks, I didn't look at it close, but thought it was a spin-on cartridge. Don't renember a bolt on the bottom, Son sent a picture and there is a bolt head on top of housing. Photo of filter shows is definitely not a spin-on. Filter must be in some sort of a cup.

Don't know this tractor but my ford 9N has filter housing with bolt on top. Remove the bolt, slide the metal housing off, and there's a filter element inside with a little handle like a pail's. Kinda cute. You pick it up by its little handle then do whatever you're going to do.

Yep...same as my MF-135 ,bolt on top of canister housing and the filter cartridge is inside...take bolt off...go to napa, get new cartridge with gasket...and your all set...make sure you get the canister with bolt just right when tightening bolt back up..run it and keep an eye on it a couple minutes. A lot of people put the spin on convertion kit on them (bypass filter) but I think these filters do a better job....also the steel canister will take more abuse,if they do get bumped.

Yep, canister style with paper element filter inside. Be sure the gasket inside the top gets removed and replaced (be sure the old one gets pulled out so you don't double up). Most filters include a copper crush washer for between the bolt head and canister lid.
