Wouldn't have made it without turning brakes. Now to get it running. Can anyone tell me if a 3-53 needs a lift pump?

Hate it when I forget the pic!

Most every Detroit I’ve run across has a gear driven gear pump to pump fuel, should be enough to pull fuel up from a tank below the engine

I blew it up a bit. The rust thing above the carb I believe to be the pump. I don't think my old 1900 had a fuel pump but the tank was also above the engine.

It will have one. Bolted into the rear
timing cover. May have to pri me it to
get it to suck below it.

.I must be way off tonight. I meant the rusty thing above the starter. It has two fuel lines that wrap around the front. Only one comes out on the other side.I assume the other one goes to the valve cover.(injectors). I will have to get a better look. Thanks for the help thus far.

I think I saw in Farm Show mag. that they add a set of wheels to the back of those forklift masts to help carry the weight while you use the mast to lift with. Lets your frt. end stay down with heavy loads.

This one was a home made job for moving filbert totes. It was really to much weight for the 3 point to lift. The only way I could lift it was with the cylinder on the mast. Don't know if I can move it with the 3 point now that it's on the ground..

Thanks J. It does look like a gear drive pump. Will it draw from the tank or will I need a lift pump?
