corn field spraying by helicopter

hi school chum called today ,, his neighbor is spraying the corn field with a helicopter , and the corn is ready to harvest ,aint hurtin no one, no odor in the air , we are just curious what and why ?, my guess is anthracnose or another fungus ...maybe you guys know...

If ready to harvest why would that be needed unless field was too full of big weeds to let harvest start?

Cover crop seeding has become popular.

Can't think of a reason to spray corn at drydown, you won't make it dry faster, there is no insect or fungus you could affect much at that point in time......
