Deere won the price comparison this time...

Doing a re-store on an antique grain drill with single disk openers and later style boot with riveted toe scraper, in lieu of the massive seed boot casting. John Deere was $9.18, case-IH was $34.14 for the scraper blades. Opener disk W/rivets, JD $22.00, C-IH $53.80 each. Glad its only 16 holes.

I bought some new rubber seed tubes for my IH drill a few years ago. Over $24 each! WOW! Glad I didn't have to replace them all.

Anyone who knocks a Deere dealership for parts prices clearly hasn't been in an AGCO (or CNH) dealership lately.

I just bought USED feeder fingers for a Gleaner 315 flex head for $14 apiece. Highway robbery, right? Well, AGCO dealers want $27!

Just this past week I paid 63.13 for JD HyGard in the 5 gallon pail. CaseIH HyTran here is nearly 80 dollars per 5 gallon pail.

I needed a choke shaft for a model B. It's a 1/4 brass rod with three holes drilled in it about four inches long. Deere wanted $100. Carb shops want $16.

I just bought the two fan belts for a 4055, 65" long each, for $20 for the both of them. I thought that was great. Also the three parts making up the pump coupler for that tractor were very reasonable I felt.

JD seems to get a bad rap for parts. Yes, some are seem really high, others I have found to be very reasonable in my mind.

I will look elsewhere for deere parts if there isn't something critical about the part I cannot inspect. For example, where metallurgy of a part is critical, deere gets the order in those cases automatically.

I also try and remember that with deere there is a good chance the part will be available.

Just my thoughts.
