Post and rail across ditch lines?

I'm putting a 16ft metal gate across our farm lane. Lane is gravel and about 20ft wide. To keep it looking ok I want to
run post and rail for about 30ft each side of the gate before switching back to HT wire and joining up to existing
fences.
Each side of the lane is a shallow grassed ditch. No running water, and we mow them. Each ditch is about 16ft wide.
I'd like to put my posts at 8ft, but not sure if I should put posts in ditch bottom or span the 16 ft and if I do, do I run
rails flat across the ditches or dip the rails down and back up coming out of ditch. Ditches are only about 18" - 2ft
deep at lowest part across 16 ft width. Will probably run a hot wire inside the rails as well. I have a couple of 35+ft
wire gates to get bigger stuff in and out of yard.
Thanks

We do 1000's of feet of fence a year. Some folks put a taller post in middle of ditch and leave rails level. Some folks want to follow slope and keep top rail 4' or so off ground. Both ways is fine. We have dug holes and concreted posts in the middle of running creeks before. Sets up fine.
