John Deere wagon gear

bought a John Deere wagon gear today how can I tell what model it is it is missing a the wheel grease hub cap the other three has JD stamped on them and they screw into the hub where is a good place to find parts? would like to find a tongue for it as well thanks Howard

The tongue is probably just 3 inch channel iron. That is what is on my two JD wagons. I made a new tongue for one of them because the old one was bent and had been welded up.

Your description sounds like my 953's.. FYI I found telescoping tongue's at a salvage yard for scrap price for all of mine.
Gehl tongue needs little fabrication to adapt to a 953.

We have 10 of them with hat beds on them,, we make the tongues out of 3" channel and weld a 2 3/4" flat on the under side to box and strengthen the tongue..They are one of the best wagons ever made.

Here are two John Deere hubs that are long, have JD stamped on the top of the hub cap, and the cap screws into the hub. The hub on the left is a John Deere 952 and the hub on the right is a John Deere 953. The 952 hub looks like a mushroom while the 953 is just plain. I have bought bearings, bearing cups, and grease seals for both gears at my local John Deere dealer. You can also buy them on Amazon. I have bought 2" pipe to replace bent reaches. I have had my local welding shop bend 1/8" steel to make new bolster stakes. I also needed a tongue and had to buy an old worn out 963 gear with a good tongue. The same tongue fits a 952, 953, and 963.
