Little trivia...
The first few albums that were released, the spelling of "Pancho & Lefty" was misspelled as "Poncho & Lefty".
Pancho is the name, poncho is a blanket like overcoat.
The error was corrected, but not before several were sold. Having one of those, unopened, is supposedly worth a lot of money!
The song was written by Townes Van Zandt. He was a terrific song writer, wrote hundreds of songs, recorded many albums. Many of his songs were recorded by famous singers.
He had a troubled life, addiction and mental illness claimed him at an early age.
He is somehow related to the Van Zandts of Van Zandt county in Texas.

One of the best! I like listening to The Highwaymen, lot of great music. There is a dinner theater in Mesa AZ where a guy does a great job on Willie's songs, really looks like him too!

My favorite Townes Van Zandt song. Willie and Merle do a decent job of it, but I first heard <a href=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3LQeRqTBK4">Emmylou Harris's haunting version</a> from her Luxury Liner album, and I still think Emmylou's is best.

ahhh EmmiLOU!! My Bride to be Loved listening to Emmy Lou , Sing " Im Crazy For Lovin You ", Buzzman 72 was the brandenburg ky disc jockey at wmmg in those days . he played music for LOVERS //we would snuggle up in the back seat on a cold winter nite . sure kept nice and warm out in the woods...
