Anyone else read about Henry Huggins or Ramona when they were young????

I loved those books when I was in elementary school.

yep, also read the Freddy the pig books, the Henry Reed books, a little later W.E Butterworth (who now writes as W.E.B. Griffon) , Henry Gregor Filson and a series of books By Enid Blythe called the Adventurers, but then the folks bought a farm and all of a sudden I didn't have as much time to read and when I did it was something like the operator's manual for a New Holland Super 66

I read those books and several more of the era like Homer Price, then years later, in my twenties, I was coming across Ohio headed to Washington Court House and low and behold I went right through Centerburg, had no idea it was a real town until then.

Can any of you remember a storyline where a young boy saves up for a kite only to lose it in a tree. Along comes a friendly farmer with a flatbed truck and lets the boy climb on the truck to get his kite? I have remembered this because of the farmer. Not sure where the story comes from but it was from that era.

When I was about 12 (70 years ago) I found my father"s Horatio Alger books in the attic. Great reading. Anybody ever read them.
