Ford 640 pops out of 4th

Tractor seems to be working great considering we did all the work to it , lol. Only issue it pops out of 4th. Won't even get up to speed in 4th. Rest of gears fine. 4 speed transmission. Sometimes it's a little tricky to get it in any gear. And sometimes it slips right in. Will it hurt to leave it alone or should we tear in to it. Thanks

Taking a look at it is not a big enough project to warrant calling it "tearing into it". You may find something easily correctible.

Could be a simple fix or a have to split it fix. Shiftier dent ball/spring could be weak or it could be a chipped gear or a bad bearing

I think fords are famous for that. On my ford I cut a 1X2 with a V cut in both ends to fit between the shifter and the rear end lock pedal. You don't want it to fit tight or it will wear the shift forks.
