Well maybe they will give you a full trailer instead and say it is in the empty row so it MUST be empty ! LOL. If so take it ! You can empty it on the way home.

Where I worked, they took away the janitors broom & gave him a pistol and started calling him a security guard. And that is a true story!

Let me guess: one tire of that trailer is empty too (i.e. no air pressure). You wouldn't like to drive off with that trailer, only to find yourself in a fix, would you? LOL

Kinda like a cartoon drawing I saw at a parts store that read:I don't care if your pointing at it the computer says we don't have one!

I encountered a security guard like that once.
Picked up a load late one day to be delivered the next morning, only a 5 hour trip, early the next morning I pulled up to the guard shack and the guard nearly blew a gasket because I hadn't called 24 hours in advance to schedule a delivery time.

Actually, I can see all the problems that would have caused with their databases if he just took any empty trailer.

Sitting at Gatorade in Columbus OH. Picked up a load in Cedar Rapids yesterday scheduled for 5 pm pickup. Got on road at 8. 9 hour drive plus 10 hr sleeper. That adds up to 19 hours committed in 19 hours not counting loading time. I got here 10 minutes before I said I would when reporting this morning. Only 3.5 hours late according to guard. They will work me in. Usually dispatcher pretty good. Scheduler needs a little help though. Well plenty of time to get to Cincinnati before next pickup. Glad I rushed to pick it up asap and found out I was 4 hours early for live load yesterday.

And that is why If it has to have sides on it it better have a hoist or bottom doors so it empties as it opens. Got tired of the being treated like a third class person in those places.
At least with my step or detach they are glad to see me pick it up and glad to see me deliver it.

That is why I quit flat beds and vans and went to tanks. You don't get jacked around like that. I think tanks are the best job in trucking.

I am so glad I see the same people every week, and I load at home every night. I once had a dispatcher tell me I had to take a load to Detroit for Saturday mourning delivery. I asked where the trailer was and he said it was being loaded and would be ready at 10:00pm local. It was a 12 hour drive with a 6:00am delivery time. So with the time difference I would have 7 hours. I went home, the poor idiot who went, sat at the Ford plant till Monday afternoon because he missed his appointment.

I once took a load to a big name grocery warehouse. My appointment was 10:00, I got there at 10:01. No dice, I had missed my appointment. Next day my appointment was 12:30, I was there at 12:15. At 1:30 I called my dispatch and asked what did he want me to do, as I was still waiting. He told me to bring it back to the plant, and tell them if they really needed the load they could come pick it up.
A month later, I went back. They seemed to remember that their customer wasn't happy when their product wasn't at the warehouse when they needed it. Things were better after that.
