v belts quality difference

is there much difference in the quality of v belts or are they pretty much all made in same place and same thing different label? broke a belt on disc mower yesterday called jd and kuhn dealer 265 at jd and 200 at the kuhn dealer for the set of 4 belts. i can get gates belts for $88 or d&d power belt for $55. which would yall go with?

You bet. Unless you just like to tinker with things buy the best belt available for your application. 2 things immediately come to mind and
both are used on lawn tractor/ZT mowers....drive and deck belts, especially the drive belt....a pia to change. 2 more where I learned my
lesson, drill press and air compressor. Trucks and such with the serpentine belts may be pretty standard.

Gates "HD" belts, or the "green belt" is always my first choice. They cost a bit more but you wont be replacing them for years.

The green belts are for applications where they need to flex in both directions. The v side provides the drive pulleys and the tension pulley will push against the back side of the belt.

We just ordered and received a kevlar belt for our lawn tractor from vbeltsupply.com, as suggested by someone on this site. The price was
reasonable, quick delivery and the belt looks good, time will tell.

yes very true; I use the Green belt mostly when they run on both sides; but good also for the V-side; Kevlar are top choice.

There are definitely different grades of V-belts. The manufacturers part number on the old belts should help you determine what grade you had. Retailers often substitute their own part numbers and different retails may have very different prices for the same belt.
