Back in the '60s they used to call him "The Flying Farmer" and he piloted Pontiacs. I saw him a few times at Detroit Dragway.

Nice pics! And wow, is that the worlds shallowest posthole digger? How does that contraption work?

Also, what in the world is mounted to the back of that... Allis Chalmers WD? Interesting that the front and rear wheels/rims seem off an entirely different tractor line.

Always a good show. Been going to that one many years. Did you go to the Atkinson show as well? A splinter group of the AETA club has been showing in Atkinson for a couple of years now. Some nice stuff there too albeit a few less. Thanks for the pics!

Not a post hole digger but a wirlwind tearacer to make the teareses in that part of the country. That auger spins fast enough to blow dirt for 20 feet.

I have one. The gearbox has three speeds, and it WILL throw some dirt if you sink it in the ground and crank it up with the gearbox in 3rd. I've used mine the opposite of the way is was intended to rebuild waterways.

When I use mine, I put it on my D19 Allis, but I recall when I was a kid a neighbor did custom terracing with one on a 44 Massey.

I headed east from the Geneseo show but didn't stop at Atkinson.
Been there before with the AE-TA group but was tired And hot on the way home back to PeoRia.

Kruser, A huge thank you for posting these great photos. We have not been to this show for a long time, to far to travel now & old age. Yes, I rember Arnie "Farmer" Beswick from Morrison,Ill. That was over 45 yrs. ago. Didn t he have a bad fire where he had his cars? clint

The A-C with the thingy mounted on the back looks like a very early sugar cane loader. Mite be a home made outfit. clint

I was there the first day. Do you recall seeing the Minneapolis- Moline pull picker with one row of a New Idea mounted picker used for the gathering unit. The wagon elevator went out the side. The left wheel had concrete weight on it and a sprocket and chain from a pull type manure spreader. There was no PTO shaft. There were dolly wheels at the front of the tongue and a seat for the operator. I assume it was designed to be pulled by horses. It was a little crude, but also ingenious.

That is a really nice show up there. Have not been up there in 2 years since grandpa was able to go. We took my daughter and son along and both of them got sick on the way home. What a memorable trip that was.
