OT: Modern tractor question

As y'all know my area has had extensive flooding. I want to help a fellow whose 40hp Kubota was completely submerged, it's FWA and has a quick-connect FEL. He has told me that BEFORE the water rose he drained
the oil and completely filled the engine with diesel. He thinks that the head has to be removed for some reason. I don't understand his thinking. I am thinking drain and flush everything, replace filters,
battery and either go through the starter or replace it. I am expecting to have to drain and flush rear-end/hydraulic system multiple times and depending on what is found when I drain the engine maybe it too.
I would appreciate y'alls input on this. Thanks in advance.

Don't need to pull the head, just pull the injectors, and turn the engine over to get any liquids out of the cylinders so you don't hydraulic the engine.

if it was under water he has more problems than the engine bearings every where and then the electrisal system sounds like a basket case. Check the insurence coverage as there will be major problems even the hy system

If the battery was left connected, there will probably be corrosion growing on every live connection.

Everything electrical that can hold water, starter, alternator, instruments, will need to be disassembled and cleaned before reconnecting.

I see no need to remove the head, just pull the glow plugs, turn it through carefully, spin it out.

I have to agree with it most likely being toast due to the electronics. Have the owner check with his insurance carrier BEFORE you do anything.

Rick

Was it water, or was it salt water? Has it left behind salt residue, still sitting there? Difference in corrosion.
