Serial number

I have a IH 454 I've been told it was a 72 then I was told it was a 71, the serial number is 221012444006034X, what is it?

Neither one according to this link below. Where are you getting the serial number from? That one you posted seems pretty long. Maybe a casting number from somewhere on the tractor?

There's a tag on the transmission looking from the front to the rear the right side.

The S# should only have 3-4 numbers on your tractor. Go to tractordata.com and look up your tractor.

Dont know how I missed this, last 4 before the X is the serial number - 1972

I have this book from yesterday tractor and I couldn't figure it out, thank you very much.Plus it's suppose to tell me how many was made that year.
