Have you ever seen a larvae inside an iris root?

Some of my old Irises were dying. The roots, tubers, were hollow inside with a
pink larvae.

I also had a larvae eat the stem of my zucchini, that killed the plant. I
pitched the entire plant in dumpster. Also pitched the Irises that had larvae
inside.

Has anyone seen or heard of this before? Is there a good way to get rid of
them?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much for the info. Plan to follow directions and keep an eye out for leaf damage.

Is this common? Do others have same problem??

We have hade the same problem with all our vined plants from cuks to pumpkins, to blue hubbard squash. They all died off shortly after starting to bare fruit. Found worms in all the stalks where the came out of the ground.
I don't think it is Iris Bore, that killed our garden plants though. It was another worm.

So how do we stop the worms/larvae? This is the first time my garden got attacked. I always remove garden trash, dead plants after frost, and put them in flower bed compost pile. Never put any of that compost back in garden.

Glad to learn I'm not the only one with this issue.

DREADED WOOD CHIP WORM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I was going to ask for more iris tubers!! See you at Elnora, might take two of us to keep old John T in line. Note to all John T Country Lawyer YT people he has sold his farm and can "well afford" ribs and barley pop for all rest of 2017 and 2018. .I have had lawyers use that term "well afford" on me in past. Lawyers love the phrase.

I may have just made a BIG mistake. John T is just finishing legal work for me and I do not yet know the fees.!!!!!!!!!!!Maybe I will be the one paying for ribs and barley pop !!!!!!!!!

Bill,
You'll have to pick up flowers at my place. May want to wait for spring to see what color they are. Not planning on going to Elnora this year. Boss hurt her knee, hard to walk.
Not sure wood chips have anything to do with worms or larvae. It a moth that lays eggs on stems. Going to keep a closer eye on my flowers.

No but I had a young apple tree die prematurely and upon attempting to remove it it cracked in half. In the crack which was almost the whole area of the trunk at that point was a white hammer head (like a hammer head shark) worm. Never saw that before.
