Mowing tractor again

Thanks for all the feed back. The M and the MF may be too heavy for spring mowing as the ground gets soft and I do not wont to leave ruts. I have always liked the cultivion farmalls anyway. My first choice from the comments will be the super A , A then maybe BN. Nice to hear from all who actually use these tractors. Thanks again.

I never really gave weight and soil type much thought. My ground is sandy and never leave ruts. Wet clay is another story. Get a little wet and lawn will have ruts.

i know a allis C is pretty heavy, 2,500 pounds according to tractor data site, and i think ive read the mower deck is another 600 pounds. wide tires will help with cutting ruts, but turf tires turn to muddy slicks quickly if its too soft and wet. i run stock ag tires and i know its too wet to mow if i can see the cleat marks in the yard. wide turf tires would ride better too, probly pricey, ag tires are pretty pricey themselves.

If the ground is too soft for an M, then it is simply too soft for anything. I have an area that stays soft and wet up into the month of June or later and then it dries up. I don't even try to mow in there until it is dry.
