Your neighborhood is going downhill

And then you find out there is a new township ordinance about the smell of cows. WELL I guess your poop don't stink? Also every back road is a BMW test track. Also huge diesel pick ups with shinny mag wheels and cushy cabs, and carpet ptotectors. Also beer bottles, water bottles, and anything else that might dirty their carpet.

Cars going and coming at all hours of the night. Where are you going at 1:30 am? Maids and landscapers runnng around because people are either too lazy or too good to clean their own houses and mow their own lawns.

For me it's when folks can't mind their own business

Yeh, like that. Not any of my business, but the folks the next section over the lady is a nurse and the husband works rotating shifts with the air guard (currently one hour away). How dare they not have honest 9-5 jobs with specified coffee breaks.

Another guy (3 miles the other way) is a university professor (meat science) and has fifty head of cattle and a seasonal hired hand. Lazy barstage. He's a good neighbor and has taught me a lot. Loaned me his truck once when I had mine apart and needed to tow a mini-ex.

I'll have to tell these guys they're bringing down the hood.

Amen, Bob in SD.

"Here's what's wrong with the world" posts, on this forum or anywhere else, are one of the main things that's [b:79108ad83f][i:79108ad83f]really[/i:79108ad83f][/b:79108ad83f] wrong with the world, as it usually translates to "anyone who doesn't look, act or believe the way I want them to."

I live in the country and your description fits my area. I am a volunteer fire fighter and when I respond to a call during the early a m hours, I have to wait for cars passing by before I pull out of my driveway. Two years ago a couple bought 16 acres of wooded and ledge lot behind me. While the contractor was building the house, I walked through the wood (50 yards) from my property line to just say hi. Property owner said they don't like neighbors and if I wanted to sell my place they would by it.
It was not long and the No Trespassing signs went up. House and property assessment of about $850.000. I was burning brush in one of my fields and they complained to the township but nothing became of it.

Orange, What neighborhood do you live in that has maids and landscapers running around? Only ones in my area are the owners.

Some people here in Central Minnesota are tearing down and totally demolishing beautiful farm sites, unfortunately. In my short lifetime, I have seen Prime Virgin Prairie be converted to sugar beet farming. Welfare from USDA. Then the DOPE is named as honorary ffa member ?? ( small letters on purpose) Something is wrong with the picture!

Why would any of those things bother anyone? Its been a lot easier farming in my area since the county put in leash laws that require unleashed dogs stay on their owners property, now we don't have roving packs of dogs killing livestock.Riding a bike with a helmet is just common sense. If someone wants privacy on their own property why would anyone care?
And a nice mailbox post bothers you?

These things bother people because of what comes with it.They are signs city people are moving in on you. Not always a problem but usally means your whole way of life is about to change. If you don't understand these things you never will......

If a farmer has 2, 3, 4, or or more children, chances are the family farm passes to 1 of them. The rest more than likely move to town. Do they become city people. What about there kids and grandchildren?

Someday many of your own grandchildren may be city people.

That is right, I am the son of a daughter. I got nothin but the priviledge of doing free labor on the farm in my teen years. I watched my cousin take a 200 year old profitable farm and destroy it, strip it of all its profitable timber and now he is selling it off a few acres at a time.

tell me again how wonderful country folk are!

Those are all sure signs that you will soon be able to sell out and buy five times as much of the same quality farm ground two counties further out.

Welcome to suburbia!!!

I love this post, and feel the humor all the way around. Here, I'm one of the last 3 farms left fronting on the main highway out on this end of the county. Surrounded by farmettes and 5 acre plantations. I never thought I'd see the day I need to build a privacy fence but..... its in my remodel plans...... the lady who lives here says too many eyes on her when she swims....
