Just Tuckered Out

My Wife was trimming one of the Percheron's up for the upcoming Ks State Fair and the darn thing went to sleep on her..lol! The Wife is also practicing on getting the tail into a nice bun. It appears to be harder than it looks, although she is getting close. I have never worried about doing tails in the Farm Classes I usually enter, but the Wife is planning on some Halter and Higher Echelon classes with the new Mare so they need to be prettied up a little. The tail bun in the day was to make the horses rear stand out to help show their confirmation and muscles better. Takes a lot of effort to drag those big guys to a fair, but it sure is a great time.

BTW, we are going to Britt, Ia this weekend for the big Draft Horse show there. Kind of anxious to see the country up there. Bob

Agreed..! The saying is "Your foot will never feel better when a draft horse is standing on it" You have to think about that a little, but it is certainly true. Bob

Keep bringing your horses. I love to see those big guys! My Dad farmed with perchons. I asked him how come he didn't use clysdales because they are bigger. He said "you can't use them on a farm because the sandburs and cockleburs get stuck in the hair on their legs."

Clydes aren't "bigger" than Percherons. Some are taller, but it's all leg. Leg without the muscle to back it up is like having a 4 bottom plow behind an 8N Ford. You aren't going to do anything with it. Unless they are trimmed well, many Percherons have a fair amount of hair around their feet and on lower legs. Depends on the horse.
