Got a call today

18 years ago my dad retired from farming and sold off everything, tractors included. My cousin called me to say that the person that bought the John Deere B was downsizing his collection and wanted to know if he could get a hold of me to see if I was interested in it. This was the first tractor on the farm, and it was bought new. I'm not a huge two cylinder fan, but there is some nostalgia coming back I knew where it went to, and even mentioned to my wife a couple of weeks ago when that it was in the area. Not even sure what shape it is in or if it even runs. Most impressive was that I remember what it sold for on the auction. My mom even checked tonight. $1100. Going to give the guy a call tomorrow, even if it's just to see it again.

I recommend buying it while you have the chance. You may not get another opportunity...........

I am very proud of the fact that I own and use all the time a 52 8N that was my Dad's first tractor.
My uncle bought it new in 1952. Then Daddy got it in 1955.
Go for it.

I bought a Ford Golden Jubilee 3 years ago that was bought new by the seller's granddad. I can't imagine why he would want to sell it but young folks don't have the same appreciation of nostalgia and sentimentality we older folks do. If he wanted it I would sell it back to him for the same price I paid. Been used very little and is now stored.

I walk out into the garage this morning, in the far bay is my wife's great-grandfathers Allis WC they bought in 1941,
in the basement is the MF 135 that my Dad bought when I was a young pup, so little of history, much less family history survives
I would highly recommend bringing it back home. The opportunity my never come again!

I hope you get it back. Dad sold off grandpas minnieapolis moline za years ago, regretted it for years I found it back when I was in college and bought it back. That tractor and a few other family machines won't leave until they carry me out in a box.

Daddy still has the 1952 Ferguson TO-30 that he bought brand new when he was thirteen years old. They farmed with it, and a used MH 44 they bought later for 13 years. The TO-30 has had the block replaced, after his brothers let it freeze and crack while he was in the Army, and that was rebuilt in the early 80's, but still has the original clutch in it! It will never leave as long as my brothers and I are still alive. We keep threatening to restore it, but never seem to find the time.

You guys need to understand that many of the kids today selling off grandpas old tractor has little to no connection with it. Odds are that mom or dad went off to college and the saw grandpa once or twice a year and were never really around the equipment on the farm. So that old tractor has no meaning to them.

I have two Farmall H tractors my dad bought new and I put quite a few hours on as a kid. They never left the farm but were just left outside , one for over 15 years without turning a wheel. I put at least three times more dollars into them than I could get for them now. They mean a lot to me and wife was very supportive BUT, kids, I don't know what they would do with them. Getting close to time where I will have to decide on them I think.

I was given my dad's 2N when he passed.
I used it for a couple/few years and decided I wanted something a little bigger and newer.
So I sold it. I don't miss that tractor at all.
My dad was not sentimental. Neither am I. And if he could see how I have parlayed his tractor into the one I have now he would be happy and proud of me.

All of my kids live in the city or suburbs and don't have room for my stuff when I pass. I guess all the tractors and stuff will be sold. Mabe they will keep some of the guns and the wife's quilts. I don't know

I'm a lucky guy, got grandpa's 1942 Farmall H and Dad's 1948 Allis B. I never walk through the barn without thinking of Grandpa and Dad when I pass. It's just a comfortable feeling, kind of like Dad and Grandpa would be proud to know their tractors are being cared for. I know iron doesn't have feelings, but I do. I'll be driving Grandpa's H across the Mackinac Bridge in a week for the fourth time.
