Farmall A Lift-All Paint Colors

For restoration purposes, does anyone know the original color of the pressure contol valve on a Farmall A Lift-All system? There was no evidence of any paint left on mine, just rust. I have only seen one picture of a restored valve and it was painted bright silver. I just wanted to make sure I was getting it right. All the other components still have red paint on them. Whatever it is supposed to be, I’m assuming it should be done with a high-heat paint, right? Also, is there an international harvester red paint available for high heat application (for the manifold)?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations on the replacement gasket material I would use in rebuilding the valve? Is there a special type of high heat gasket material for this type of application? I've seen blank gasket material for exhaust manifolds with a perforated steel core at 1/16" thickness. Would that be best?

They mite have had some over spray but it burned off quick never seen any paint on ours when new. I will never forget the thrill of being the first to drive it when new the smell of new paint. I had just turned 12. It remained on the farm from August 47 till my youngest brother died in June 2912. His wife then gave it to me and i still have it. That tractor had never been left out side always had a place in the shed. Still original gen. starter lites still there and even batt box and crank in original position just one small dent in the grille where a cow kicked. Was repainted in 84 so its still in its working clothes. I did make a wide seat from fender to fender with back rest and platform for parades. I have never lost my love for the Bs and have restored some and sold still have 5.

No gasket was ever used the lids did sometimes warp some. I have rebuilt them over the yrs but just sold one complete with 238 cult complete. ay questions you can call 319-430-3907 anytime be more than glad to help.

Thanks. I will definitely give you a call later. The one I am working on does indeed have a bit of warp in the lid. It looks like in the past that someone may have put in some type of gasket material between the housing and the lid. Maybe to fill the gaps due to the warp? It came right out and was hard and did crumble when I removed it. RTV sealant maybe.
