How to repair decal

I was disking some plowed ground today and a little gasoline splashed out the vented cap and loosened the edges of my decal. I rinsed it off with water but too late. How can I stick the edges back down and would spraying clear coat over it protect it from further damage?

Two toothpicks and a tube of clear acrylic caulk. Use the first toothpick to lift the edge and the second to place a tiny dab of clear caulk at the attachment point. Use the first toothpick to gently rub down the flap so as toget it flat wipe all excess off immediately. If it is an IH tractor You can get a free tall baffled cap. If other ask the dealer for options. Jim

If you didn't do it the first time you installed it, see if you can get at it with a scissors and round off the corners of the decal. Many times when one comes loose it's because the square corner began to curl up. I always round mine off before installing.

If it were me I would work some super glue under the decal but I wouldn't put a clear coating over the top. The clear would peal much sooner than the finish on the paint.
