NH 648 baler with net wrap

Anyone else here run one of these? For whatever
reason I and 2 different NH mechanics can't figure
out ,you put any other brand or color than JD net in
our baler it's constant headache. Won't cut 1/4 of
the time won't pick it up sometime we you name it
doesn't like it. Put a green roll in it and you almost
never have to leave the tractor seat because of net
issues. Very strange.

Not to mention straw,1/4 of the bales will have a flared out end on one side because the net didn't run where it should if it's not green but with the green stuff virtually every single bale is perfectly wrapped tight to both sides, more money yes but w have 10x the baler when we're running that stuff.

Have close to 15k bales on mine. It will run whatever net I put in it with no troubles.

Hi I got a 688 string baler, but there is something in the net wrap box part of my instruction book I saw while looking for something else on my machine. It says something like you have to put the roll in slightly different round the rollers or something for a certain type net, I think one was white net. I'm wondering if thats why yours don't work right with the other net. I don't have my book here it's out in the tractor. It seems odd the book said about it and you got this problem with yours.
Regards Robert

Ya there's instructions on the cover where the net goes too and the white wrap is fed through differently than the black. We feed the green through the same way as the white goes.

Thank you very much may do that. We replaced the
break canvas , knives and had several service calls
over the last few years trying to figure it out. Each
time they'd work on in about an hour making
adjustments trial and error till it would work but it
never seemed to keep running well with white net of
any brand.

Ditto Mike10 on Haytalk forum is the "go to man" when it comes to NH hay equipment problems.

One thing I discovered on my NH 650 net wrap baler is that the longer rolls (over 6200') would cause me trouble. Since I started using the 6200' rolls I haven't had any problems.

Possible the spool the white net you have has a slightly larger I.D. or is shorter in overall tube length.

If the spool does not fit tight then the brake can not do it's job properly.

Might try slightly spreading out the tabs that grip the inside of the spool.

I also find if you leave it up to the monitor to make an even bale for you they will not come out as nice as when you fill the baler even by watching what you are feeding into it.

On mine the nicer a bale I make the nicer the net looks and works.
