I bought a Oliver plow on Big Iron in central Kan. over a year ago and had a brain storm that I would go and get it and see the eclipse the same time. We left a 5 am on Tues. morning with the intention of seeing it between KC and St. Jo Mo. I had been watching the forecast and they predicted rain for the day so we set our sights on Beatrice Neb. All was going good until we got in Omaha and there was a wreck on the 6 lane I-80 and we were trapped for over an hour. They finally directed us off but by the time we found I-80 farther down we knew we couldn't make Beatrice. So we set took a exit and went south. Ended up at Syracuse Neb. which was supposed to be total. Brought my welding helmets along and pulled over along the highway but just as it was going to get dark---it got real cloudy so all we saw was an weird sky. The traffic was terrible going down and after the eclipse and everybody was in a hurry-passing on yellow lines and hills. But we made it and seen a lot of country. Seen a lot of good crops and a lot of bad. Yellow corn and very dry corn in SE Neb. Seen a lot of soybeans a foot tall-looked like they took the wheat off and planted beans. Got home 5 pm Tues. 1200 mi-too much driving for a old man. The last picture is the line for returning welding helmets-used once.---Tee
