Don't know who posted on these forums a few years back about putting a dab of grease on the end of the tube of RTV before you screw the cap back on, but thanks.

Been using out of the same tube for a year now. Yeah, I don't use it much.

Wasn't hardened even a little bit.

Learn all kinds of stuff on these forums.

Hello Fred Werring,

I leave the tip full with about 1/2" out of the tip of the tube......self sealing. Just pull the tip out when needed,

Guido.

A trick I learned the other day.
When you finish using PVC glue in a can, store it upside down so it does not dry out. Guys at a plumbing supply place told me that.

I've tried the self-sealing route - if you don't use much (like the OP & me) then it just keeps getting hard farther down. Grease does work better for me. YMMV, of course.

Fred,What we found that keeps tubes of stuff from dying out,is we seal the cut end with a nail and tape, then WE USE OUR SEAL-O-MEAL vacume unit to finishing up sealing. Works like a charm.Something to consider!!,Regards Lou& Victor.

For probably thirty years I have been squeezing out an extra dollop then screwing the cap on over it, eliminating the air. It is like doing nothing yet it works

Steve -- Thanks for the tip about PVC glue. Seems I remember some 20-30 years back it had a much longer shelf life, but now the glue seems to go bad much sooner. ...Now to find some way to hide it in the fridge without the wife knowing!
