Ok so what is the correct point gap. I was told by a the manager of O'Reilly's it is 0.017 but the Chilton manual says 0.025 for the 6 cylinder and the 0.017 for the V-8

My 66 Motors Manual For Ford 240&300ci6 Point gap is.025
spark plug gap is.034 timing is 6 deg. btdc 289 ci V-8 points are .017, Hope this helps, JIM

(quoted from post at 17:48:39 08/12/17) Or, as old school mechanics would say...the thickness of a post card....Ben

Same here, I was taught to tear off the lid from one of the spark plugs and use it for the gauge. I can't remember the correct but .025 sounds right.

Only know that my 65 Dodge with 318 points were set with a matchbook cover as a rode side get'er going setting.
Something about .017 sounds right for V-8. Don't recall what my 225 slant 6 was.
