A jewel of a truck to me, an S10!

I found this in TN, has 23k miles and is basically brand new. My guys think I'm silly for buying an old S10 but they run forever. There have been three here go over 250k miles and we did basically nothing to them, all original power train, nothing taken apart. I just need something to get decent mileage and do some light hauling for a couple managers. I learned my lesson, bought a GM car from the dealership we work for for one of the guys to drive. Wow, won't that mistake again. Buick Encore, made it 80k before just falling apart it seemed. I'm a GM guy, guess I'll stick to trucks. I hope this S10 makes it to 250k! See a white low miled S10 (not many) send it my way. Oh, truck is at the farm, Oliver 2255 in background.

Good! I Have known several GM that did well. I had an Oldsmobile that did well and an old Chevy 70 pickup that was worn out before I got it and bought a new 83 to replace it and the 83 gave more trouble than the 70 and the 70 got all the dirty jobs

Our letter carrier uses a S10. He has one with 300K on it, and is already bought its replacement, keeps in the garage, waiting its turn.

Yes that's what I'm doing. Sounds weird but they just run for so long! I got lucky in early 2016 and found one with 55k miles. It now has 85k,
haven't touched it except for oil changes and grease

I too ran into a gem, 09 Silverado with 44,000 miles. proving that even the blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.

Did the 83 happen to have a 305 with overdrive? Dad had one ,beautiful truck 2 yrs old when he got it but he ended up swapping the transmission for a th400 because they couldn't keep the original from slipping and the engine was under powered and never was a great runner.

Great find! I was drooling over one for sale the other day, someone put a 355 and th700 in it,wife had enough sense to tell me to quit looking at it lol

I bid on an 88 s10 extended cab.that was stored in a garage. Old guy didnt drive it and passed away. It had like 7000 miles on it. Original window sticker and all. I run it up to $6000. It went for $9000. Absolutely a new truck. Window sticker said something like $5900 when new.

I had a 83 GMC version that I liked until the crankshaft broke and I had a fancy, loaded black 97 Jimmy that was pure junk at about 60,000 miles. Bought it at 35,000 miles, was used buy a rich woman mainly to haul her golf clubs. Only thing that didn't go bad I can remember was the sun roof which my wife never used anyway. Two a/c compressors, transmission, brake booster, ign. switch, cat. convertor, gas gauge sending unit are all things I never replaced on any other vehicle I've had since 1965, all General Motors.

Nice looking truck! In 2010, I purchased a 2002 2500 HD with a crew cab and Duramax diesel engine. The truck had a little over 38,000 miles. I just broke past the 80,000 mile mark in June of this year. I truly love that truck! I have been rather fortunate in finding clean, low mileage vehicles, owned by people who are retired and don't drive a lot. My pickup is a real gem. Congrats!

Looks like a gem, to me! Congrats on your purchase! I just bought a Cadillac CTS a year ago, which was 12 years old and had 32,000 miles on the odometer. Like the car a lot, but like everything, it has some minor quirks about it. Hope to drive it for a great many miles with dependability. Typically drive our vehicles over 200k.

That's a great catch for sure. I had an '86 S-10 pickup, 4 speed manual, that had 327K miles on it. The only thing I did was a couple of water pumps and a new ac compressor. Changed oil religiously at 5-6K and it rumbled on....forever. The old 2.5L Iron Duke engine was one of the best designs ever. I got a new pickup back in '08 and sold the little S10. The fellow still has it and it still runs on.

My brother put over 300,000 on his S-10 company truck before the transmission went bad, the company decided not to fix it.

For any one interested I have a 94 Sonoma 4x4, 4.3 auto I'm going to get rid of, less than 60,000 original miles, frame's bent, cabs rough, bed looks like new, fenders and hood are in good shape. $600
Wife's been using it to travel back and forth to our poultry barns for several years.
The bent frame prevents it from being licensed and insured, with increased traffic on the little county road running through our farm we've decided it's not worth the risk and have started going one of our other trucks.
