How Become?

I need a few 3/16" clevis pins with a 15/16" usable length. I found McMaster-Carr has just what I need. However, in this particular size, the price is inflated by 2500% compared to other lengths. I tried to convince them there was a pricing error, but they wouldn't budge. I then looked at other pins of the same size but different material or plating. Seems to be the same in all categories. The 15/16" usable length is inflated regardless.
How become?
I found some from another source with a 0.9063 usable length, but they may a hair too short. I may go ahead and get them and see if they will work.
The next length increment is a big jump which is much too long.

Anyone know where I can get 3/16" plain steel clevis pins with a 15/16" usable length at a reasonable price?

I looked them up and see what your saying.Does seem strange that that size is 25 times more than any other. Doesn't make much sense,
If you only need a few how about getting them longer and cutting them off and drilling a new hole.

Wonder if they were hardened ? JD has some small ones in the lower loader pin to equalize the arms while the bucket is unhooked. I broke one. JD had them but that one was a lot higher priced than others. I'm thinking because it was hard. A softer one may of partially sheared and then been stuck in there.

I just checked the Fastenal website. They show 3/16 diameter x 1 inch length (effective length of .859 inches) and 3/16 inch diameter x 1 1/4 inch (effective length of 1 7/64 inches) available in zinc coated. Both are less than $.50 each. If one is too long how about an SAE washer behind the head of the clevis pin to take up the difference. The SAE washer will have a smaller outside diameter than a more standard USS washer. Hope this helps.

Harbor freight has Clevis pin assortment that the pins have a bunch of holes the length of the pin figure out what length you want stick the cotter pin through cut off the rest

I'm looking at McMaster Carr right now and I'm having a hard time making apples-to-apples comparisons.

All the "regular" pins in standard lengths are the multi-hole type. There are none that are just plain straight-up 1" only pins, for example. The specialized 1" pins are just as expensive as the 15/16" pins.
