Fire wood, Finally back at it this year.

I usually have all my firewood harvested, split and stacked in my woodshed buy this time of the year.
Have had lots of distraction projects this year.
I went up to a new area in the wood lot yesterday and blazed a road, and cleared a spot for a landing. I skidded out a good number of windfalls yesterday to the landing. Today I cut some standing dead, and some dyeing and distressed trees. I figure that I have about 5 cord of wood skidded to the landing area on both sides of the new road to the landing. as per tonight.
It sure was a beautiful day to work in the woods. I went up about 10:00am with my lunch bag filled with a ham sub, some canned ice tea, and a few barley pops for the end of the days work
Next phase is to block all the logs and limbs into 19" pieces, and then bring in the splitter with elevator, and split and load all the split blocks into my dump trailers, and then transport the trailer loads home and stack the wood into the wood shed.
Hope to have 14 cord of wood cut, split, and stacked in the wood shed by Aug 30th.
My wood cutting team consists of Me, Myself, and I.

Larry, I wish you were here. I love being in the woods as much as you love being in your gardens.
Keep your chin up and beat the he!! out of that cancer that you have. The Docs have me doing pretty darned good now.

Me myself and I and that trusty B 2150 Kubota.. I am still working on your fuel filter problem. Don't, get hurt up there by yourself.

Loren, I hope for your sake you get along well with the other 2 guys. Would hate for one of you to get angry, especially if that's the one with the chainsaw!

Loren, your firewood posts make me appreciate my natural gas line even more every year, thanks. And safe firewood season to you!

Amen!
About the 3rd week of October I switch the
thermostat from cooling to heat and turn the
temp up to 67.
It costs about $5-600 a year for heat,
cooking, dryer and hot water.

I'm a bit envious of all your new modern equipment, but you have done well with all your projects. I cut firewood for 22 years, using a Poulan 3400, a Homelite Super XL and a couple of the mini Homelite saws. My Daddy built a wagon from the frame and bed of out of our old '56 Ford truck, with a hitch for the 9N drawbar. Like you, I cut probably 85-90% of our wood by myself. I was extremely careful in all I did and only had a couple of minor injuries, mostly from spring backs. Of course, I was younger and stopped at the age of 44 ehen we moved into my Mama's house with central oil heat. I don't miss the work, but I do miss that heat and the cook top of the free standing heater. Keep up the good work, have a good week.

Me too...one good day bush hogging pays for the natural gas I use in the 6 coldest months. No smoke, dirt, sweat, bugs, chainsaws or wood splitters to mess with :D
