jm A question for you on my B2150

I have an issue with the fuel filter on my tractor. I picked up a new Hastings filter for it and it would not slide up onto the stub of the filter base, and if I force it the filter will crush when canister is tightened down. I took filter back and said it doesn't fit. I also had the old one which did fit. All the filter books say the hole in the top of filter should be .500". The old filter had a plastic top holding the filter together and apparently opened up a bit to fit on the stub. The new filter has a steel top on it, and my filter stub measures .545".
I went to local Kubota dealer and picked up a genuine Kubota filter #15231-43560. It also measures .500" with metal top.
I carefully washed my old filter and reinstalled it to keep going. I don't dare take the die grinder to the top of the metal ring so it will fit. Too likely to get a filing into the injection pump.
Have you run into this problem, and how did you solve it?????

ADG Be4en years since this came up but I have a B 1750 here and yes the new or current filter will crush. I am attaching two photo both of 15231-43560 filters the one on the left or whit media one is made in Mexico and is just a little larger than the one you got with the red media pictured on the right.. Now the fastest way to solve your problem I don,t know. But if you will click on the jm. and send me your address expect you would see some filters on your door. I THINK I have several of the old ones here at the farm that I could share. Notice the boxes have been moved around and are aged.

Could it be possible the metal top from the old filter is stuck up in the housing.

I'm thinking the metal top has a o-ring that seals the center.
The o-ring gets stuck on the housing and the metal top pulls off the filter when you remove it.
Get a small screwdriver and dig up in the housing.
You may just find a o-ring and the old metal top still up in there.

OK it was a thought anyway.
I have seen this happen before and sure makes you feel like a fool once you discover it.
What made me find it was I could not see the center o-ring on the stem.

That system has 2 O-rings
14301-43650 is the o-ring around the out side of the canister and
04811-00100 is the o-ring on the center stem.

If they make a tailpipe expander that small then that would open the hole up.So Kubota can't make a replacement filter that fits their own tractors? Better hope you never need bearings,
pistons or rings.
