Jon F sold me front end wts for my eagle hitch 830. Fastenal put a little white paint on them in transit and don t real concerned about it. Tractor paint is still origonal. Guess thats what I get for 150 bucks from mn. to west side of Wa. Not been a good day. Richard

(quoted from post at 18:30:45 07/28/17) What do you mean-Fastenal put white paint on them? Magic Marker?

Well, since Fastenal trucks are white pick-up trucks I bet that the weights rode on a fairly new truck against bare paint.

Big Tee some how the wts got paint on them in transit. They e mailed pics of them to me. I e mailed back told them I wasn t happy bout the paint. Havn t heard back from them. This was several days ago. My e mail wasn t nasty either. RB

Here is a pic of the weights he sent me after they arrived.

IF it was latex paint, isopropyl alcohol will soften and remove it without damaging the factory paint below. Otherwise, testing a small area, you should be able to remove that with one of several thinners and not damage the original paint.

Richard no offence to you are Jon but let me be blunt.

How was the pieces packaged.
Strapped to a pallet loose; in a box strapped to a pallet; in a wooden crate; or just 2 loose piece.
This will come into play when dealing with the carrier.

While I realize these pieces may be your pride and joy and you expected better service;
These pieces were just another shipment to the carrier and they will consider those pieces to have cosmetic damage to pieces that were only worth 10 cents a pound in new condition.

They were shrink wrapped on a pallet. I have a pretty good idea how to ship stuff. And if they are worth .10/pound then they should buy some replacements.

I figured you knew how to ship things but from the pictures it does not look like they were still shrink wrapped when they got there. Maybe the paint got under the wrap.
It is not uncommon for them to take small pieces off the bigger pallet to save space.

Under tariff rules used agriculture pieces are worth a maximum of .10/pound if lost or damaged beyond repair.

I had many layers of shrink wrap on them, probly 8 or 10, so they either re-palleted them or the wrap got cut somehow or they couldn't have gotten paint on them.

Well that sucks and they should at least apologize. I have used the before and their website clearly states that they are not responsible unless the merchandise is crated so you may have a problem getting anything back.

Richard.......yer PI$$ING & MOANING about white paint splashed on FADED and SCRATCHED original RED PAINT???....... sheesh, the amazed Dell

From the looks of your picture somebody is a whole lot less happy with how their buckets of white paint arrived than you are about your weights.

In my world the pains of dealing with Fastenal far outweigh the couple dollars saved over same shipmemt via commercial carrier. Next time try comparing freight rates using UShip with your Fastenal quote , you will be pleasantly surprised with the rates.

Confused here. What does Fastenal, a retailer of nuts and bolts, etc, have to do with shipping tractor weights? Is this supposed to be about FedEx?

Fastenal ships. Good for tractor parts and larger crated material.

Bret;
Fastenal will haul common carrier stuff in specific lanes.
IE; On the tail of a trailer that is not full; In a back haul situation where they are running empty; Ect....

They can under cut LTL prices in these lanes because while they will haul most anything; they will only consider a damage claim if the item is totally enclosed in a wooden or metal crate. Even if you enclose your item in a crate their liability is very limited because if the crate comes apart at the seams they will claim poor workmanship in construction; if the crate is good but the part is damaged that is considered concealed damage. So unless they shove a forklift blade threw the wooden crate their is no claim.

couple of bucks??????
i had an item to be delivered to upstate NY from here in Ark. big carrier wanted 650.00 no way says i .
i checked with Fastenal 150.00, couple of bucks ????
they explained that they had to shuffle around to ship but it got to destination in 5 days and the fella who received it was very pleased, so was i. if i get a chance i'll post a link to what i'm referring to

this is how you ship. at about the 15 minute mark is the story check it out.

Guess it depends on what and where, how big a hurry the customer is, how far you (and him) are from Fastenal and how much your time is worth? I Regularly have crated shipments of 1000-1500 lbs and quote to quote a commercial carrier cost somewhere between $50- 125 more than Fastenal going from the midwest to anywhere USA. They come get it, they deliver it to the customer door and give me a schedule. Ya, if you call the carrier your going to get a high quote, but same carrier though Uship is half or less. Not saying g I am right and you are wrong but for the differance I let them go door to door.

Huh! Learn something new everyday I guess. I'd never heard anything about Fastenal hauling freight before. Thanks guys!
