Clutch stuck on 3910 Ford tractor

I have 3910 Ford tractor for A long time. It has been A good one. Now as I am older and don t drive it much now. After it sets up 3 or 4 weeks the clutch sticks. A while back it did stuck and I put it in gear, tied the clutch ledal down and pull it just A little, then it came unstuck. now it has stuck again, I pull it again like I did before, it will not come unstuck.
Have any of you had that problem with clutch stuck when setting up for A while?
Do you know the best way to get the clutch unstuck? The tractor has never been took apart before.

Not familiar with that tractor but can you get some wd-40 sprayed on it then do like you did with pulling it. Once you get it unstuck then run it up against a tree and in high gear slip the clutch until it smokes. That should prevent it from happening again.

Had that happen to a 420 JD. Cut a stick and put a string on it. Had to block clutch down every night. Might have to get rough with it. Probably need to use it and get it hot. Must be moisture.

Getting a clutch unstuck is not easy, and can be quite dangerous.

I'm not recommending you do this, but I have heard of getting it started in gear, and driving it around with the clutch held down, in a higher gear, goosing the throttle, anything to jerk and stress the drive train. Sometimes that will break one loose.

Or, depending on the clutch/flywheel design, sometimes you can work through an inspection hole, or the starter hole, with the clutch pedal tied down, try to work a scraper or knife blade between the disc and the flywheel and pressure plate through the gaps around the pressure plate housing.

Once you get it loose, be sure to always block the pedal down. For whatever reason, some are prone to rusting, some are not...

I work on tractors for a living and have for many years, mostly Fords. We have had more stuck clutches in the shop this year than I can ever remember. We have had more rain and damp conditions than ever before. Every one that we have had to split, the clutch disc has been rusted to the flywheel. One tractor a 5640 only sat outside for 3 weeks. We tried everything to keep from splitting the tractor, but we didn't succeed. I tell my customers , If you are going to let your tractor sit for any length of time block, wire or hook the pedal down. It will save a lot of headaches and repair bills.

My sister-in-law recently bought a new Massey compact. It came with a factory hook for the clutch pedal to lock it down.

I showed it to her, told her she needs to hook it when it is parked.

3910? Is that the Fiat built Ford? If so when you get it unstuck check your dual stage adjustments too. When I worked for the Oliver dealer we would unstick them with a heavy log chain and a tree. We would back the tractor up to a large tree, wrap the chain around the tree close to the height of the drawbar, hook the chain to the drawbar, put the tractor in low run the tractor about 1000 RPM with the clutch petal down. When the chain got tight the clutch would pop loose.

If you have plenty of room get the tractor started and using the throttle to shift into high gear and with the clutch pedal down hit the brakes hard. Make sure the brakes are adjusted evenly. The shock load of hitting the brakes hard will usually free the clutch.

One of the first ones that I am aware of with the Fiat Engine and Ford Rear is the 6635. Same as the New Holland TL90. It was still badged as a Ford But was a Fiat. There are probably others.

Thanks for the help on my stuck clutch on my tractor. Several difference ways to fix it.
The way I got mine broke loose, was, I hook my PU to it with clutch pedal tied down, put in forward gear, and pull some, then put in reverse, and pull some. I did that several times, it finally came loose. Now I made me A tie down to hold the clutch pedal down when not in use.
Thanks A lot.
