How many of you use them every time you get in the tractor? I buckle up without thinking in the truck, but forget every time with the tractor even tho there is that big ole decal staring at me....

Two of my tractors have the belts but I don't recall ever using them. Trucks and cars it is automatic (and the law) that I fasten seat belts soon as I get in. Unless not leaving the farm.

I use them when I am on steep ground. The rest of time I rarely use them. I wear the ones in vehicles 99% of the time.

Never have. You set in them all day or at least I do so I need some freedom of movement. Not saying its right or wrong.

Our ground is mostly flat , if you flipped a tractor over at my farm you would have to really screw up . You could flip one in a road ditch
if you drove off the traveled portion of the road.I don't use them in tractors. Skid steer yes, you can get tossed out of one of them
things. Trucks Yes , fines here in Ontario are just stupid , ad cops love to ticket.

When I get in truck, I click it all the time or I'll get a
ticket in Indiana.

You don't have to have steep hills to flip a tractor if you are
moving hay. One wheel could drop in a hole. Below is an old
link talking about the danger moving large bales of hay.

There are U tube videos of tractor fatalities. One shows a guy
flipping his tractor over backwards. He got tossed out the rear
window. It's scary to see how fast things can go wrong.

Common sense goes a long way, be safe.
fatalities moving hay.

Seat belts in my truck have saved me from very serious injury. In a tractor cab everything is for the most part so much slower. I believe that I have buckled up when on an uncomfortable slope. as well as a few times on a road with some traffic.

I don't own anything in the way of farm equipment with seat belts, or a ROPS for that matter. OTOH, I strongly believe in SB in autos. Just a difference in speed I guess,

Very rarely. If I am doing something on a hill? Working by myself, I have become pretty safety minded over time.

Dragging the harrows over the hayfield one spring I came across a stretch of mole hills.
After that stupid button on the top of my cap dented my head when I bounced high enough to hit the roof of the cab I fastened the seatbelt for the rest of the job.
Otherwise I rarely use it.

I've never had a tractor with seat belts, but my wife once walked away from a head-on collision where law officers on the scene said that if it weren't for the air bag and belts she could never have survived. After looking at the Pontiac mini van she was driving, I had to agree.

rule of thumb used to be (might still be)

with a cab or ROPS use seat belt. no cab or ROPS don't use it.

I would say that it is a little stronger than a rule of thumb.

I do some if especially if I see an obvious need. It's
very hilly in southern Indiana. Mowing pasture and
road side. Never on row crop. On place I should
have a lot more is when I used to spray and spread
in a rogator. I worked for Cps and nation wide are
main safety concerns was tender driver over turning

I'm on the fence with seat belts as I was in a wreck, lady ran a stop sign broadsided me totally caved in the drivers side knock me against the passenger side door.Cop agreed if I'd
of been wearing a seat belt I'd of most likely been killed or seriously butchered up as it was I walked away with some very sore muscles. So you never know.

Yes Traditional Farmer you DO KNOW! that for every freak incident where someone is better without one, that there are 856,934 where someone is saved by a seatbelt.
