Second set of remote hydraulics

I recently bought a used JD 2440 to make hay. I need two sets of hydraulics for the round baler I bought. Any suggestions on where I start as far as which parts I need and whether I try to get JD parts or go after market? Thanks!

Well you will need the second valve that bolts into a stack beside the one you have, The steel lines going to the break away coupler, and the break away coupler itself. You would be able to get the lines and some of the other stuff from JD but the complete setup would no longer be available. 25 years ago the complete second remote kit was $1200.

Just buy the second remote used. Boot Heal tractor parts has them. I would say Anderson Tractor part would too.

If you don't desire to spend the money for the JD factory 2nd scv you could install a closed center spool valve similar to one for operating a frt end loader or utilize a Fasse splitter similar to photo below.

The info is all in the free parts book at the JD web site. Bolting on the 2nd factory style SCV looks and works better vs some cobbled up farmer fix.
If supplying a continious high demand hydraulic load such as a loader, log splitter, backhoe, hydraulic motor etc. The return oil should be routed back through into the tractor via a ported transmission oil filter cover.

I have the electric/hydraulic splitter. It works fine. It can be removed in 5 minutes, if you don't need it.

Depending on cost what you state is true EXCEPT JD engineers designed the scv control valve way too complicated for the task that it normally performs which is controlling a cylinder. Repair of this scv control valve takes a very knowledgeable technician and to have valve repaired at JD dealer is very costly(high $$$$). A spool valve will control cylinder as well as the JD SCV.
