What made this organic corn do this?

Not mine. Was hauling bales and noticed two
fields worked by the same organic farmer
like this. Didn't notice it a week ago when
the hay was mowed. Looks like a chemical
burn or too much nitrogen? Quite sure
they're organic. Constantly cultivating
with marginal at best weed control. They do
at least 200 acres around here and more in
other areas. Sorry about the pic angle.

The one spot where there isn't any growing at all had water, but all the yellow-burnt looking stuff was high and dry. Definitely on the dry side before these last couple rounds of rain.

Probably something to do with one of those organic night sprayers. It is hard to judge how much spray you are using when you spray in the dark.---Tee

could it be that he has a propane flame weeder? a local organic farmer has one and his corn looked just like that a couple weeks ago---looks great now and no weeds.
