Can't spray the drain .

Just rained and rained all through June ,know that we have had two days with nice weather , I went to look at my grain fields. The grain has started to head , and the under seed is coming up like crazy . So no spraying for weeds this year .
I could cut this stuff and bale and wrap, but I really want the straw, so I guess I will take a chance with the weeds. At least I can swath the grain , never could direct cut these fields , there would just be too much green stuff to force through the combine.

We finally caught a break here in NH. A four day stretch! Of course most guys are doing a high percentage of baleage or haylage, but corn planting has been getting way behind. It always turns eventually, but yesterday I remembered just a few years ago telling people that our first four day stretch came in October.

I saw a guy cut grain rye just as it headed no grain. They let it dry out past hay making. Square baked it for straw. Told me the grain wasn't worth much but had good market for bales.

My oats were such a mess last year,I was only able to combine about half to two thirds of them. I cut the worst of it with the discbine and baled it that way. It made bedding, but I was glad I didn't have to unroll it in a stanchion barn.

I just went and check the last field of silage corn that I planted. The yellow is disappearing fast from the flooding. It's dry enough to get on and spray. It's about to canopy,so looks like it's today or never.

Same situation here in n/w WI. .. for the acres that were planted, anyway. Still have some to plant... way too late for grain, but it will make green chop.

Isn't there anyone around you take corn for grain then you could make the fodder? If remember right all your corn in chopped!

Corn's sprayed! Just finished. Made two passes through one wet spot were things went sideways and relocated a few rows, but I'm satisfied.

Is this what you guys are talking about? Saw this a couple of nights ago outside of Lancaster,PA. Looks more like corn stalks but just want to show you.
