Wet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jeff finished mowing his second cutting today. Good grief it's wet! Even worse than the first cutting. He had 2 or 3 spots he just mowed around. Today was the first "idiot bricks" I've seen baled yet this year. All first cutting hay yet. It will make heifer hay and that's about it. Certainly glad none of it is ours. Round bales are a pain to feed in the barn, but at least the feed quality is there.

Talked with our renter that we borrow the discbine from. He said the Black River flats will be a month yet before he can do anything on it IF it quits raining for a while and the river goes down. Drove to Lowville today and there are spots where the water is over the canary grass on the flats. By this time of year canary grass is 4-5 feet tall............................................. Going to be an awful lot of the flats that won't get cut at all this year. Hay is going to be short this winter. Going to be a lot of hay that should have been bedding that will be fed to cattle because there will be no choice. Bedding will be scarcer'n hen's teeth.

The crops on the heavy ground are growing at a snail's pace. The past few years have not been good ones crop-wise and this year if it does not turn around in short order could finish us.

Yeah, the price of milk is sooooooooooooooooooo good. No dairy farmer can handle this right now without causing serious problems.

I haven't made any dry hay at all yet Don. Lots of guys wrapping rounds or chopping, but not much dry hay. OTOH, pastures look great!

Big change from last year.
