The original subject was "Re: Old international truck questions".

I have Dad's 1959 pickup with a BD240 engine. I am told the intake manifold is cracked. Quality parts said they had one and sent it to me, but it has a different carb. It was tagged as a 1960. Did they change the intake manifold? Will a different carb fit on the new intake and work or do I need to send it back and try to find another intake manifold?

I don't know for sure but in my experience those six cylinder manif0lds were pretty interchangeable for years. I've swapped them between the BD 240 and BD 264 without a problem but its probably a good idea to measure the distance between the bolts that hold the carb. down. I've had to replace at least one cracked exhaust manifold but never an intake. Bought a used intake/exhaust manifold out of a junk pile at an auction sale and it fit right onto my BD 264. Lucky.
