O.T.-radio head phone sets again!

I'm out cutting grass on my zero turn with ear plugs, missing the race because my old ( Winston
Cup) radio head phones just don't cut it anymore! Tried to go back in the archives to find previous
topics on them, no luck. If I remember right, the 3M set was at or near the top of the list!?
Amazon has the 3M set for $50, but a lot of negative reviews on account of fitting tight, poor
tunning, poor noise reduction. To make it tractor related, I'm cutting around my 9N and had to move
a farmer's grain header rack to cut where it sets. Any opinions are welcome, thanks in advance!!
I'm on vacation this week, gonna enjoy a few cold brews while I can and going to the hills for a
couple of days!!

Managed to get the 'search archives' figured out and found the topic from 2013 that had good advice. Deaf as I am (50% or better in both ears), I'm better off with just plugs or muffs, don't need extra noise to over ride the mower!! Y'all have a good week!!

I bought a 3M head set about a year ago from Northern Tool. They had an e-mail promotion for $29.oo and free shipping. Reception is great and it has FM settings including .05 increments. I never knew there were that many stations out there, but many bleed over the .05 settings. They fit tight and seal out 90% of outside noise. The only complaint that I have is they are hot in the summer. My cousin has had a similar set for about 5 years. Still going strong except some of the padding is wearing out and cracking. He just put some duct tape on and still using them.

3m is what I have. They cancel the outside noise and have good reception on the radio part. The set I have has a plug in and can be used with an MP3 or tethered to a smart phone as well. They are hot in summer but it's worth my hearing.

Non? of them i've seen will work on am around a running engine.Fm can get a few channels, but not much to listen to anymore. Most stuff went to xm.

I have the 3M ones. Have had them for a long time. Forgot and left them on a log in a woods I was cutting in one time. Found them 3 weeks later after it had rained and snowed a couple times. Still work just fine, and can hear the radio over my saws when cutting wood.

I have the 3m work tunes now, after my old headset quit. The old set was analog and a set of batteries would last me 200 hours...new set is digital and maybe 30 hours. I use rechargeable batteries in them now. I like the push button seek that tells me the frequency. Lots of stations around here, so reception is not a problem. I get bored with one station, hit the seek button with my hand and move to another.

I have the 3M set and have had no problem with them. I actually dropped them and broke the battery cover, completely my fault. I called their support number to see how to purchase a new cover, and they sent me one out at no cost, even after explaining it was my fault. Great customer service!

I also purchased another set from Lowe's at the Black Friday sale last year made by Safety Works. Excellent reception and has Bluetooth capability, which I do not use.

I've considered getting some of these things. A couple questions- Can you hear over the radio enough to know when something bad is happening? I mean, if you have to run the radio so low you can't hear it so you can still hear the mower or baler, why bother? #2- with all open station tractors, and needing to wear a broad brimmed hat for sun protection, how do they fit with the springy connection piece behind your neck?

Okay,, being a older feller with bigger ears... most cheap ones are too small and pinch my ears.

so.. the ear cup size is important to us older folks. How do the 3m's work on bigger ears?????

. I bought mine from Amazon and if I remember right they cost 125 dollars. The best money I ever spent. I got the wire less or you can use the wires. I use them on the computer and they fit so perfect and comfortable and no noise just the best Blue Grass music on YouTube you ever heard. I use them every day. I had a cheep pair but the noise was real bad. They fit good but the noise was bad that's the difference between 125 dollars and 15 or 20 dollars I guess ..

The 3M set cancels pert near every normal noise out. The volume on the radio is not loud don't need to be. If you want to also hear your machine its not for you.

The 3M TEKK ones I use are not that way, they just muffle the sound. I heard the fawn's last scream before I heard the "thud" as it went thru the Bush Hog
