Can someone tell me the difference between the 8n,9n and Jubilee ford models. My Dad had one of these but said it was to light for most field work.In 1958 he bought a 641 workmaster and he said it was the handiest tractor he'd owned.

yeld........the 3-speed 9/2N had 23hp; the 4-speed 8N had 26hp; the 4-speed Jubilee had 30hp OHV engine. The 641 WorkMaster had the same OHV engine.......HTH, Dell, yer tractor historian

I have a 641 and hate it. No live PTO and the lowest gear is too fast for many types of work. At least it has live hydraulics and an overhead-valve engine to make it better then any "N" tractor. My 1960 British IH B275 is MUCH more tractor. So is my Ferguson TO35 from the 50s.

Your dad was right. 8N is nowadays considered a hobby tractor. I use mine for brush hog duty, some light grading with a blade, and I had a loader on it before to move a bit of dirt. I guess one could plow a bit, maybe with a harrow in soft soil. But time and tide have passed them by. My JD 2010 will do every job better, easier, and faster. But - I still enjoy my time on the 8N. It's sooooo simple.
