Decent stand of corn this year (pics)

I took these for a forum member, thought I might as well throw these up here as well. This is not usually my best field but it is close to the barn. Plants are about 10-12" high now which is about the tallest corn in the area. Planted with the JD 7000 planter I have been rebuilding over the past couple years. You won't find much better anywhere around here and most of that was planted with much newer and more expensive planters. Overall I am pretty pleased with my results AND we got 2" of rain overnight. All I had to do was contract to sell all my small squares. It hasn't stopped with the rain ever since. Glad to have it on the corn though. :)

Lookin good Dave. You might be a farmer yet. LOL

I was gonna take a picture of some of mine, but my boots might not hold back all the water that's standing between the rows.

The one bright spot with the later corn and beans is the stands look good. How it will finish out is anybody's guess.

Wow Dave, that looks real good, almost like you know what you're doing! The 7000 planters are good planters, we used to have one, it always did a good job.

That's great looking corn! How many weeks since planting? Ours has been in (eastern Canada) for 4 weeks and is about half that height. We hire a customer planter who actually uses a 6 row JD 7000 as well, really happy with the job. He keeps his planter very well maintained and has a fairly new seed monitor on it as well as liquid fertilizer option capabilities.

That field went in 5/17. It was pushing 90 that day but still good soil moisture. Only light rain since. Until this week. We have seen a couple inches since the weekend. I'm pretty happy with the planter!

Nice thing is the best stand is up by the road. Of course most going by are probably thinking i rented the place again. ;)

That stinks! That rain keeps hitting you then blows right by me. Got enough now though. Hope you get some days of hot sun. Wont take long.

Dave,

I don't want you to think that I am critical in the least bit but now that you have a good stand you need to get about a 100 pounds of actual nitrogen on that corn ASAP. You can see from the color that it is starving. It dosen't matter which form you use whether it be 28%, 33%, 45% side dressed or Anhydrous but you need to get it on before it gets any taller or stressed any more.

Very nice, ours went in around the same time but we had a month of cool damp weather things are finally growing here better now
