Outboard Motors...

I forgot to post pictures of Sparky's outboard motors he sold on his sale. I have never seen one in person and he had 20 of them. They sold choice and they went cheap in my opinion. Around $100 apiece for the group on the wooden stands. Stood there and didn't bid.---Tee

They were built in the Oliver factory in Battle Creek, I worked with a guy who worked there at the time, he had a few stories about the place.
I wish I had paid more attention.

Oliver outboard motors were designed by Chris-Craft. Chris-Craft in Grand Rapids, Michigan sold the factory to Oliver in 1953.

After Oliver bought Chris-Craft motors in 1953, they started having motors built in Great Britain in the early 60s.

At Florida Flywheelers some dude exhibits those absolutely beautiful shiny brass outfitted antique outboards WOW are they something to look at. I had a couple old Johnsons for maybe 30 years so took them to an auction and they didn't bring much at all. Flea Bay has influenced the antique market for sure. I have a restored antique pump organ and cant even get an offer on it. As we all grow older the days of me or my dad or my grandpa had a tractor like that so I gotta have one is diminishing. I see it as an aging dying hobby, just like dudes our age lol.

I have a small Chris Craft here from the original owner who got it from Algonac, Michigan in 1947 (at least to according to him). My father-in-law was 10 years old in 1947 and went to the factory with his dad to pick it up. The original company as gone by 1960. I am just getting ready to put it in the water.

They were still making boat in Holland until sometime in the 70's I think, then they moved to Fla. The company I worked for bought one of their buildings in Holland and they started making lighted visors for the auto companies. The Chris craft main plant was closed for a long time and then another company bought it. I don't know if they are still there. The boat you have is very nice and one of the better ones made. I have heard the later years the new ones were poorly made. I new many people who worked there and at the end they were making 40 footers there

Not tractors but great post. I have an antique Callie built around 1917; not a water person don't know what to do with it??
