What do you grease your balls with?

I have been using regular grease gun grease on my GN ball and after a week it starts creaking and groaning. Is there something better to use that would last longer?

I don't have a gooseneck, but have a couple of bumper hitch trailers. Also have 20 miles of gravel road that loves to stick to anything it can. I have to clean any grease or oil off my ball and apply fresh quite often. Is a good practice for me as the sand sticking will wear the hitch components even faster.

I use whatever grease is handy, and when I'm not pulling a trailer I remove the ball mount and put it in an old pants leg to keep it clean. In California it's illegal to drive with the ball mount in place if your not pulling a trailer, a good law! I dislike trailer hitches sticking out a foot in a crowded parking lot.

...Yet another reason for me to STAY OUT OF KORNYFORNIA!! When I take a trailer to town, I'll usually cut it somewhere while we do our shopping, then make the last stop where we need the trailer. Would just be more hassle to have to keep fumbling with the keys to remove the ball. However, I do have one ball in particular that sticks out farther than I like!

I know I probably should grease the balls, but most of the time the dogs ride in back, then come in the huse. Wife says we can have squeaky balls, just not greasy
carpet!!

"WaterProof" boat trailer grease. . . Does really good! I stick a little on my finger, and I grease the COUPLER on the trailer, not the ball. And then I spray the ball with wd-40 periodically to keep it from rusting.

I use a tennis ball that's split and put it over the unused trailer ball. A little boat trailer grease in the tennis ball and a nice bag to keep it in when towing a trailer takes care of the problem.

I haven't greased any of my balls in years. Did once but proved to be too messy. As noisy as most of my GN trailers are, queaking is the least
of problems.

Before I retired, I drove a Log truck & pup trailer with a pintle hitch. We never greased the hitch. We told by the trailer manufacture that if you put grease on the hitch it void the warranty.
