YT is Amazing.

I usually start my weekday morning by reading the national, state and local news. Pretty depressing. Then I go directly to Yesterdays Tractors and click on the forums. It just dawned on me that when I reach the YT site, I get a very different feeling. Things lighten up. Sorta like when you run into an old friend and enjoy passing the time talking. It sounds kinda simple I guess, but I look forward to reading these post and checking up on things that are NOT depressing.

I've pretty much quit the news. I find it rather one sided, all I will say about that.

World still goes around, and I still have my stuff to do, doesn't seem to matter what is or isn't going on far away or who is accused of what.

Seem to be better days without the 'news'.

And like Ytmag as you say, time with some friends.

Don t listen to any news. Don t watch any news. Don t believe the news media. Got more important things to do like reading the y/t forums.BTW don t get a newspaper either. RB

Quit both the news AND satellite TV, and I did it cold turkey!

Yep, the folks here are pretty dang special!! Friendliest forum I've seen yet, and BY FAR some of the smartest, most resourceful folks I've had the pleasure to meet!

I just have to ask why you're checking the news? If sirens aren't going off in town, there's nothing going on that's gonna effect me right now.

Yes, YT is a great site with some very knowledgeable people who are willing to help us dummies when we get stuck on a project or will listen when we just sprout off.

I've met YT'ers all over the country and they have been as great in person as here on the web. I hope Iget to meet more as time goes on.

I agree with all of the comments.
My blood pressure goes down at least 20 points after reading some posts during the day when I need a "farmer" fix. Maybe when I retire in two years, I can contribute more.

A big thanks to everyone for their common sense, knowledge, and kind hearts.

Larry

My wife is always looking over my shoulder, seeing what I'm up to...

She'll read some of the posts, usually doesn't have a clue what we're talking about, but she's commented several times about how clean and well behaved we are.

Said she wished her F. B. "friends" could all get along as well! LOL

'm with Randy.

I agree that YT is one of the best reasons for an internet connection out here. It's a lot more sane and useful checking into YT than checking out the news, and when I need tractor advice or parts, it's the first place I look.

Jon, if you ever make it up this way with your truck, I only got one thing to say.....YOU'RE LOST!

I agree. I have been coming to the YT forums since 1998. I was twelve then, and am thirty now. The people on this site, the advice and knowledge I have gained both tractor related, and with regards to life problems, is priceless. The best part of this forum are the people that have created this wonderful community. I have only met a select few of you (I don't get out much), but those that I have met in person it has been nothing but a pleasurable experience. Even those I haven't met, I still feel as though I have, and consider many to be friends and for a guy who grew up in the city not having any tractor friends - that has had a profound impact on my life. I probably only turn on my television about once per month, but as everyone has stated - it's just plain depressing and disgusting. I try to fill my time with more positive conversation (and the fact that it is largely tractor related is just a plus)!

Ken, am curious...did you grow up in the country or on a farm? Or do you just have a hankerin' fer tractors? In any case, is GREAT to see a young man who isn't interested in all the goings on of city life, punk rock, biker gangs, drugs, tattoos/body piercings, and especially, bank robbery! *lol*

I, too, lived my life learning from my elders. Now that I'm a sometimes-elder ('ceptin mostly on this site), I find that I'm now learning from both ends of the age timeline. The day I stop learnin will be the day I die! ...Course don't ask the wife - she might have to differ with ya'.

I agree. I come here to learn and not come away with a depressed feeling. Plus the random knowledge I have gained here is amazing. Its unreal the little tidbits of info you take away and can use later on. This is a great site. PS I'm 26 and have been on here for at least 8 years.

I never watch the news. I never know when any of it is the truth so I assume it's propaganda. I usually end up mad so I don't go there.

I can't begin to guess how many times someone on here has shared knowledge that helped me out of a problem. Just great bunch of people here. I've been farming on a very small part-time basis for 44 years and this year has really brought out what Dad said "A normal year is just the average of 10 abnormal years." Someday I hope to meet more of you in person.

As the old saying goes........."Birds of a feather flock together". This just what I'm doing now, decompressing after a busy day mowing etc. Don't need TV or a newspaper and since no hardware or feed store around here has a place to sit and BS; I come here.

If Kim would just let us discuss politics, we could solve all the problems in the world right here LOL--Just kidding Kim

Apparently you don't live in a state where taking your private property rights, gun rights, farming rights, privacy rights, adding obscene taxes, fees, regulation and ridiculous new laws are what gov't thinks it's job is...

RBnWA:

I'm the same way, I stopped watching TV about 20 years ago when the News Media decided that they wanted to CREATE the News rather than Report it.

I'm a new guy here as of 2017, and probably younger than most of you are, (I'm a '78 model), but I really like this forum. I farm as a hobby, as a way to destress from my other business life with customers, employees, and all that goes along with it. This forum adds to my de-stress experience! My goal is to not own tractors newer than myself, I'm an MF fan, but enjoy seeing the rest too.

The other Ag forums where the real serious farmers are (and I'm not necessarily saying that we on YT are anything but serious, hear me right... :D ), often have a lot of bashing each other, etc. I can never figure that out. If you don't have something constructive to add to the topic, apply some duct tape to your wordhole.

Keep it friendly, keep it real, keep it constructive, and lots of pictures!!
