Working on a Delco generator, need to remove the fields , anyone have any ideas on how best to remove the screws that hold the fields in.?

I've seen dudes first take a huge hammer and deliver a good shocking blow in the area which seemed to help. The big boys have a vice sort of tool with a threaded big driver bit that holds down tight to that big screw and then turns it out. Sorry no pic of that to post. My socket set came with one of those huge driver bits that fit but a good shocking blow and then holding them tight down in does the trick if you don't have the vice tool.

One of these. You stick in a bit, turn the handle to "pre load " it and give it a good wack with a hammer. They work pretty good if you buy a good one and not junk. You either pop loose the screw or break the bit .
