tractor been sitting long time need to know on a MM Z is idle on throttle pulled back or pushed forward silly ? but can't remember

Be careful-I have seen an R with the link moved above the pivot and it opened the throttle by pulling the lever back. Probably not factory, but a lot can happen in 60 years.

On my '49 Z you pull the lever toward you to go faster, and push it away to idle. I've seen newer ones that are the opposite. Not sure when they changed.
Just watch the carb and the governor as you move the lever. You will see which way you need to go.

The early ZAs 1949 up until about mid 1951 (I believe I have the serial number break wrote in my parts book) were the ones as mentioned (back towards you is faster) the 1951-52 models were opposite (forward speeds up) one easy way to tell is if the 1/4" rod from the throttle is on the inside (to the right) of the steering support post then it is an early model-back is fast. If the rod is on the outside or left of the steering support post it is a later model and forward is fast. I have my dads 1950 model and I have a 1952 I restored in Vo-Tech. It gets confusing when you run them both in the same day lol.
