Weed control on gravel driveway

Is there anything I can add to Roundup to control weeds on a gravel driveway. With Roundup it seems like it only last a month or so. Or is there something better to use.

I use "Barrier". I learned it is best to not mix with anything. Use roundup first, when the weeds are dead, apply the Barrier.

Watch using Pramitol. It will leach out with lots of rain, but it is the best at ground sterilant.

tj in ky,
What's wrong with weeds in gravel driveway and mowing your driveway?

The problem is dirt gets in gravel, perfect place for everything to grow. I have many gravel driveways and I find when something is growing in gravel, the roots keep the gravel stable, especially when I use snow plow.

Best way to keep the grass out is put down a concrete drive.

When I see people spraying their driveway, I think of people spitting in the wind. Short term solution to the real problem of dirt in gravel.

Then I see a secondary problem, people putting down a layer of fresh gravel without taking out the old gravel. Driveways get so high, rain water will run into garages, water will run towards foundations.

Good luck trying to stop grass, weeds growing in driveway.

You could either spray it a couple of times a year,or throw in some 2 4d to take care of most everything but the grasses.

Read the labels, but I would Roundup first, wait a few days then Pramitol it. There are lots of ground sterilants out there. You might need a pesticide licence to buy one. Can't remember.

(quoted from post at 05:58:59 05/30/17) when i grade m driveway pulls weeds out with it, if you grade few times weeds will not be problem.

I used to grade the gravel drive 2 or 3 times per year. Weeds and grass always came right back in a week or two, plus the constant grading had a tendency to wear out the gravel, and then I had to haul in MORE gravel. No thanks. I'll stick with the "Barrier" one application in the spring and I'm done for the year.

I have tried several brands to stop weeds n grass in my driveway, Roundup didn't do well as new grass keeps coming back and I was spraying like all summer so I finally found a grass/weed killer that lasts most all the summer after only a single spring spray ITS CALLED BARRIER and I buy it at Rural King. I buy it in a gallon and mix one quart in my 9 gallon 12 VDC sprayer I haul on back the golf cart and its a slowwwwwwwww kill takes like a week but grass dont return rest of the summer for the most part and not even the next spring. Works best for me but other soils and areas may be totally different.

Been a few years since I needed any but last I knew any one can buy Pramitol, they sell it at TSC

Yes, that was my experience also. I buy "Barrier" at my local Orscheln's. You have Rural King, we have Orscheln's.

My 1/4 mile gravel drive way has very little weed or grass problem. I think it is packed so hard, that nothing will grow in it.
When people complained to Henry Ford about Model T's leaking oil all the time, he just said "It keeps the grass from growing in your drive way, doesn't it".

Weeds and grass grow all down the middle of my gravel driveway. Good lane marker, helps me keep my car on track ;-)

Anybody certified to buy it would know better than spray it on a hard surface like that. Everybody's worried about the "environment",but when it comes to their own vanity or convenience, they have no problem spraying something where it's guaranteed to run off.

Use a tank mix of residual grass and broadleaf herbicides. Check your state's recommendations regarding rates and calibration of your sprayer. Some chemicals may be restricted. Something from Lowes may also work but you MUST get the correct rate down per acre/area for it to work OK.

We use Primatol around all the buildings and edge of roads, Kills the ground for at least a year or longer.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I don't have a pesticide license. I think I will try Barrier. Thanks again.
