Too hot, now ruined?

I was working on the rake and put a bearing in the toaster oven to heat it up to slide it on the shaft. I was being bone headed and put it on 500 F and left it in there for a bit too long. I glanced at it and it was fine. Messed with the parts washer, came back and it is blue. The bearing is for the basket on a bar rake. It is not a very fast or extremely heavy load like a wheel bearing. I put it back together with it just in case the weather breaks and I have a chance to make hay. Is the bearing shot or will it work since it isn't a heavy load bearing? Been kicking myself in the rear all day for this dumb move.

If you had it hot enough to turn blue then you took some temper out of it. I really doubt that you totally ruined it but your sure did not do it any good. LOL I have been there before too. Here is a chart showing steel temperatures and the color it would be.

Sealed bearings with grease in them, if so did any leak out or are seals still good? Oil impregated brass? Or plain still or brass? Big difference.
